What happens to projects when I change the segment order of my company's budget code structure in WBS?
Answer
When you rearrange the order of the segments in the Company level Admin tool, that change only impacts the order of segments on an existing project if a segment is added to a project’s budget code structure after the order of segments at the company level has been changed.
Examples
How the company level budget code structure is inherited on new projects
- Your company's Procore Administrator has defined your company level budget code structure as A.B.C.D.
- When you create a new project (Project 1) it will inherit the current company's budget code structure. Your project's budget code structure is A.B.C.D.
How rearranging the company level budget code structure affects new and existing projects
- Your company's Procore Administrator has defined your company level budget code structure as A.B.C.D.
- Before creating a new project, your Procore Administrator changes company level budget code structure from A.B.C.D. to C.B.D.A.
- On your existing project (Project 1), the budget code structure remains as A.B.C.D.
- When you create a new project (Project 2), it will inherit the current company level budget code structure of C.B.D.A.
How removing project and company segments affects new and existing projects
- Your company's Procore Administrator has defined your company level budget code structure as A.B.C.D.
- Before creating a new project, your company's Procore Administrator removes segment D from the company level budget code structure. The company level structure is now A.B.C.
- A new project is created and inherits the company level budget code structure of A.B.C.
- A user with 'Admin' level permission on the Project Admin tool removes 'B' from the project level budget code structure. The project level budget code structure is now A.C.
- Any existing projects (projects created before step 2) retain the budget code structure of A.B.C.D.
