Project Financials: Consistent & Custom Units of Measure

This announcement represents a single point in time. Future releases may impact the information below.
Feature Announced: February 18, 2020  /  Feature Released: March 3, 2020 /  Feature Update: March 31, 2020

Project Financials: Consistent & Custom Units of Measure

If your organisation uses a Unit of Measure (UoM) that is not already in Procore's Unit of Measure Master List, you can add a custom unit of measure. For example, you might want to add the unit of measurement: gallon (gal) to give your users the ability to add items for fuel and/or liquid costs in one of Procore's Project Financials tools. With this update, you'll greater flexibility and improved consistency, particularly for users in specialised trades who require additional units of measure.

Considerations

  • IMPORTANT! If you have been using Procore's free-form text field, this option will no longer be available. If you want to continue using those units of measurement when adding new line items to Procore, you will need to use the steps below to update Procore's master list.
  • To add a new unit of measure to the list, contact your company's Procore Administrator.
  • You cannot modify or delete the default units of measure on Procore's master list. However, you can add an unlimited number of new units of measures to it. See Update a Unit of Measure on the Unit of Measure Master List.
 Warning

For the customised units of measure that you add to your company's Procore account:

  • You can edit a unit of measure (for example,  change 'gal' to 'gallon'). However, the change will only affect new line items. Changes do NOT affect existing line items,  which may lead to undesirable results when using Procore's reporting capabilities.
  • You can delete a unit of measure (for example, delete 'gal' from the UOM drop-down menu on the line item experience). This only removes the unit of measure from the drop-down list in Procore's line item experience.

Demo

In the animated image below, we show you how to add 'gal' as a new volume unit of measure for 'gallon.'
