To take a snapshot of your project's Budget or Forecast tabs at a point in time.
If you are responsible for maintaining a project's budget in Procore, it's helpful to keep a record of your data as things change over time. The snapshot feature allows you to create a snapshot of the Budget or Forecasting tab in its current state.
Snapshots allow you to look back at previous versions to analyse various changes and see how data was affected. Snapshots are also useful for forecasting and reporting purposes. For example, if you notice that the forecasted 'Projected Over/Under' amount changes unexpectedly between two snapshots, you now have a means of performing a more detailed comparative analysis to determine the actual reason for the change.
The Budget tab offers two types of snapshots:
Project Status Snapshots:
These are designed to capture budget data at specific points in time, typically monthly, for reporting and forecasting purposes. Unlike ad hoc snapshots, these serve as dedicated forecasting objects for each period and are accessible in purpose-built tools at both the project and company levels. This dual visibility enables structured monthly reporting workflows and streamlined forecasting processes across your organisation. Use this snapshot type if you want the snapshot to represent the “official” snapshot for the month or forecasting period.
Ad Hoc Snapshots:
These are taken on an as-needed basis, typically when something unexpected happens on the job. They serve as an internal record for the project team and don't require review by others in the company. Use this snapshot type if you need to take a one-off snapshot that does not fit into a formal process and doesn’t need any broader review.
In the Forecasting tab, there is one type of snapshot available. This simple snapshot functionality creates a point-in-time view of your forecast data. For example, you might want to capture how a specific curve affects a forecast.
