Create or Link RFIs on a Drawing

Objective

To create or link RFIs on a drawing.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:
    • To create new RFIs on a drawing:
      • 'Standard' or 'Admin' permissions on the project's RFIs tool.
        AND
      • 'Standard' or 'Admin' permissions on the project's Drawings tool.
    • To link existing RFIs on a drawing:
      • 'Read Only' or higher permissions on the RFIs.
    • To publish markups:
      • 'Standard' or 'Admin' on the Drawings tool.
  • Additional Information:
    • You can only create a Draft RFI from the Drawings tool.  If you want to add additional information or attachments or change the status of the RFI from Draft to Open, you will need to edit it in the RFIs tool.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the project's Drawings tool.
  2. Click Open next to the drawing you want to mark up.
    Note: You can also click Info next to the drawing, then click Open in Viewer / Markup.
  3. Click the Markup tab if it is not already selected.

  4. Click the Cloud icon on the Markup toolbar. See Mark Up a Drawing.
  5. Click on an area of the drawing where you want to link the RFI.
  6. Choose to create a new RFI or link an existing one.
    • To create a new RFI:
      1. Click Create New RFI.
      2. Fill out the Subject, Question and RFI Manager fields as necessary. 
      3. Click Create Draft.
        Note: After you click 'Create Draft', a banner will appear at the bottom of the page with a link to edit the RFI in the RFIs tool. If you want to add additional information or attachments or change the status of the RFI from Draft to Open, you will need to edit it in the RFIs tool.
    • To link an existing RFI:
      1. Click Link to Existing RFI.
      2. In the 'Select an RFI' box, search for the RFI you want to add.
        Tip! Double-click in this field to bring up a list of all RFIs in the project that you have access to.
      3. Click the RFI to place the pin on the drawing.
      4. Click Publish on the RFI pin if you want to publish the markup to the Published layer. See Publish Personal Drawing Markups.
        Note: The drawing link will not show up on on the RFI until it has been published.
