Create a Permission Template
Objective
To create a new permission template in the company's Permissions tool.
Background
There are two types of permission templates in Procore:
- A global permission template (a.k.a. company permission template) can be assigned to any user on any project in your company's Procore account. Global permission templates are created and managed in the company's Permissions tool.
- A project specific permission template (a.k.a. project permission template) can only be assigned to a user who has been added to the corresponding project's Directory. Project specific permission templates are created in either the company's Permissions tool or in the Project level Directory tool and managed in the company's Permissions tool.
Things to Consider
- Required User Permissions:
- 'Admin' level permissions on the company's Permissions tool.
- Additional Information:
- Procore's permission levels (None, Read Only, Standard, and Admin) define what actions users can perform and what information they can view in each Procore tool. See User Permissions Matrix - Web and User Permission Matrix - Mobile.
- You can grant task-based permissions, called granular permissions, on supported Procore tools. See Grant Granular Permissions in a Permission Template and Which Procore tools support Granular Permissions?
- Users with the appropriate permissions can create project specific permission templates in the Project level Directory tool, but only users with 'Admin' level permissions on the company's Permissions tool can edit those project specific permission templates. See Create a Project Permission Template from the Project Directory and Edit a Permission Template.
