Auto Rename Drawings in a Tender Board Project

Background

Manually renaming a large set of project drawings can be time-consuming. The Auto Rename Drawings feature, located in the Documents tab of the Estimating Tool, is designed to increase efficiency by allowing you to quickly extract drawing names directly from the plan files.

Things to Consider

• Required User Permissions for the Tender Board tool.
• Required User Permissions for the Estimating tool.
• Required User Permissions for the Portfolio Planning tool.
• Additional Information:
  • When using the Estimating tool, documents are only available for projects that originated in the Tender Board tool. See Add a Tender Board Project to the Portfolio Tool.
  • All drawings in the project must be PDF in Vector format. See What is the difference between raster and vector content in PDFs?

Steps

1. Navigate to the Tender Board or Portfolio Planning tool and select the project.
   OR
2. Navigate to the project's Estimating tool.
3. Click the Documents tab.
4. Click Auto-rename.
5. Draw a rectangle around the section of plan that contains the name.
   • Click once to start the rectangle.
   • Click once to finish the rectangle.
6. Click Accept to approve the selected area.
   OR
   Click Cancel to remove the selection.
7. Review detected drawing names.
8. Click Save Changes.
