Send a Message in the Conversations Tool (Android)

Objective

To send messages in the Conversations tool on the Procore Android app.

Required User Permissions:
- You must exist in the project's Directory tool.
- If the company who owns the Procore account has enabled Direct Messages for only internal employees, you must be marked as an internal employee. See How do I add someone as an employee of my company?
- If you are sending a message related to an item, you must have appropriate access to that item.
Additional Information:
- If you want to reply to a specific message in a conversation, you can reply directly to the message in a thread. See Reply in a Message Thread in the Conversations Tool (Android).

See the steps below depending on which type of message you want to send:

Open the Procore app on an Android mobile device.
Tap the project's Conversations tool.
Tap Direct Message.
Note: If you want to send a direct message to an existing conversation, tap the name of the conversation and skip to step 7 below.
Tap the create icon.
Tap the name of each individual you want to send the direct message to.
Tap Next.
Tap into the text box and enter your message.
Note:
- If you want to mention an individual to notify them of a conversation, tap the @ symbol on your keyboard when writing a message and select their name. See Mention a User in the Conversations Tool (Android).
- If you want to add a photo, tap the photo icon.
When you are ready to send the message, tap the send icon.
The message is automatically added to the conversation.

Open the Procore app on an Android mobile device.
Tap the project's Conversations tool.
Tap Groups.
Tap the group you want to send a message to.
Tap into the text box and enter your message.
Note:
- If you want to mention an individual to notify them of a conversation, tap the @ symbol on your keyboard when writing a message and select their name. See Mention a User in the Conversations Tool (Android).
- If you want to add a photo, tap the photo icon.
When you are ready to send the message, tap the send icon.
The message is automatically added to the conversation.

Open the Procore app on an Android mobile device.
Navigate to the relevant tool in the project. See Which project tools support Conversations?
Tap the item that you want to send a message about.
Tap Start a Conversation.
Tap into the text box and enter your message.
Note:
- If you want to mention an individual to notify them of a conversation, tap the @ symbol on your keyboard when writing a message and select their name. See Mention a User in the Conversations Tool (Android).
- If you want to add a photo, tap the photo icon.
When you are ready to send the message, tap the send icon.
The message is automatically added to the conversation.

Open the Procore app on an Android mobile device.
Tap the project's Conversations tool.
Tap Following.
Tap the type of item that you want to send a message about.
Tap the conversation for the item.
This action loads the item and associated conversation.
Tap into the text box and enter your message.
Note:
- If you want to mention an individual to notify them of a conversation, tap the @ symbol on your keyboard when writing a message and select their name. See Mention a User in the Conversations Tool (Android).
- If you want to add a photo, tap the photo icon.
When you are ready to send the message, tap the send icon.
The message is automatically added to the conversation.
