Owners & Speciality Contractors Point-of-View Dictionary Options

 Limited Release Update
flag-us.png flag-canada.png The point-of-view dictionaries detailed below are only applicable to Procore customers using Procore's 'English (United States)' language setting. Typically, this dictionary is configured for Procore users in the United States and/or Canada.

Procore is providing updated information about the limited release of its Point-of-View (POV) dictionaries, which was announced on June 13, 2022. For Procore users in the United States and Canada who use the 'English (United States)' language dictionary, the tool names and terminology applied to Procore's Financial Tools were designed and tailored to suit the nomenclature used by Main Contractors. To address the nomenclature preferences of Procore's vertical markets for users of the 'English (United States)' dictionary, this limited release offers two (2) additional point-of-view options: Owners and Speciality Contractors.

If you are a new Procore customer, your company's Procore Administrator chooses either a language or point-of-view dictionary setting for company's Procore account during the implementation process. If you are an existing Procore customer who wants to use a point-of-view dictionary, your company's Procore Administrator can send an email to your Procore point of contact to request a setting change for your company account. To learn about the options, see What dictionaries and languages are available in the Procore web application?

Once the setting is applied to your company's Procore account, the labels for select tool names and field elements change. If your Procore Administrator chooses to apply this setting to your company's account, project teams and end users are advised to configure their project level 'Language-Country' setting and the user level 'Country-Language' settings to 'None Selected'. To learn more, see the Common Questions below.

Example

The illustration below shows how the name of the Main Contracts tool changes to Funding (for Owners) and Client Contracts (for Speciality Contractors), depending on the point-of-view dictionary setting. Note how the Owner/Client column heading also changes, depending on the setting. For more detail, see How is the terminology different between each POV dictionary?

In addition to the information above, support documentation for these new POV options are now accessible using the 'Project Tools' drop-down menu on the US English Procore Support Site (support.procore.com). For details, see How do we access the Support Site documentation for the point-of-view dictionaries?

How do we submit a request to change our company's point-of-view dictionary?

Your company's dictionary setting is set for your company during the Procore implementation process. However, your company's Procore Administrator can submit an email request to your Procore point of contact to change the language dictionary or apply a point-of-view dictionary at any time. Your Procore point of contact will work to change the dictionary setting for your company's Procore account and advise you of the Project level and User level considerations detailed below.

Do we need to change the 'Language - Country' setting in the Project admin tool?

In Procore, different dictionary settings can be applied at the Company, Project and User level. If you want your user account to share the same terminology as your company account, the project and user level settings should always match the company level settings. Applying a different setting changes how Procore renders terms in Procore. For instructions, see, Update General Information: Advanced

Example - Project level setting in Project Admin Tool

For best results, always choose 'None Selected' in the 'Language - Country' menu on the General page under 'Project Settings' in the Project level Admin tool when your company's Procore Administrator chooses to implement a point-of-view dictionary on your company's Procore account.

Do our users need to change the 'Country-Language' setting in Their My Profile Settings page?

In Procore, different dictionary settings can be applied at the Company, Project and User level. If you want your user account to share the same terminology as your company account, both the project and user level language settings should match the company setting. Applying a different setting changes how Procore renders terms in Procore for that user. To learn how to change the user level 'Country - Language' setting, see See Change Your Account Language in 'My Profile Settings'

Example - User level setting in My Profile Settings

For best results, always choose 'None Selected' in the 'Country - Language' menu of My Profile Settings when your company's Procore Administrator chooses to implement a point-of-view dictionary on your company's Procore account.
