Add, Edit and Delete Company Cost Codes
Objective
To add or edit cost codes using the company's Admin tool.
Background
The Company and Project Level Admin tools include a 16 Division cost code structure that aligns with the CSI MasterFormat. You can manually add, edit or delete the codes on this list.
Things to Consider
- Required User Permission:
- 'Admin' level permissions on the Company level Admin tool.
- Additional Information:

- If you want to import cost codes to Procore, see Import Cost Codes to Procore.
- If you want to edit or delete a few cost codes or divisions, see the Steps below.
Steps
Add Standard Cost Codes
- Navigate to the Company level Admin tool.
- Under 'Company Settings', click Cost Codes.
- Choose from these options:
Add a New Division
- Click the top-level folder with your company's name.
- Click Add Division.
- In the 'Add Division' window, do the following:
- Click Create to add the new division to the list.
Add a New Code to a Division
- Click the Division you want to add the code to.
- Click Add Code.
- In the 'Add to [Division Name]' window, do the following:

For example, enter 050 Outdoor.
- Click Create to add the new code to the selected division.
Transform a Code into a Subdivision
- Click the + icon next to the division with the code you want to change to a subdivision.
- Click the code you want to change to a subdivision.
- Click Add Code.
- In the 'Add to [Code Name]' window, do the following:
- For example, enter 40 Transformers.
- Click Create.
This transforms the existing code (050 Outdoor) into a subdivision and then places a new code (40 Transformers) into the subdivision as shown below.
Edit Standard Cost Codes
- Navigate to the company's Admin tool.
- Under 'Company Settings', click Cost Codes.
- Edit an Existing Code or Division as follows:
- Click the code or division on the list.
- Click Edit.
- Change the Code and/or Division entry.
Note: All division and cost codes must have a unique number. Duplicate codes are not permitted. - Click Update.
Delete Standard Cost Codes
- Navigate to the company's Admin tool.
- Under 'Company Settings', click Cost Codes.
- Delete an Existing Code or Division as follows:
- Click the code or division on the list.
- Click Delete.
- At the confirmation dialogue box, click OK to confirm the delete action.
