Set or Release Retention on a Subcontractor Payment Application
Objective
To set or release retention for line items on a subcontractor payment application with the Commitments tool.
Background
Things to Consider
- Required User Permission:
- To edit a payment application before/during/after the current billing period, 'Admin' on the Commitments tool
OR - To edit a payment application, during the current billing period only, 'Standard' on the Commitments tool.
AND- A member of the 'Private' drop-down list on the commitment.
Note: Members of the 'Private' list are automatically added as an 'Payment Application Contact' on the commitment. See Create Payment Application Contacts.

- To edit a payment application before/during/after the current billing period, 'Admin' on the Commitments tool
- Additional Information:
- To set the same percentage of retention on all line items in the payment application, enter a value to apply to all line items in the payment application.
- To release retention on all line items, enter a value to apply to all line items. This move the desired percentage from the 'Currently Retained' column to the 'Released This Period' column.

- Navigate to the project's Commitments tool.
- Click the Payment Applications tab.
- Locate the subcontractor payment application that you want to work with.
- Click the Detail tab.
- Click the Edit button.
